Our festival boasts a diverse selection of gardens, ranging from charming village gardens to magnificent expansive farm gardens. Each year, we strive to present you with fresh and captivating garden experiences. In this edition, you can explore ten gardens, one is newly showcased, 5 have not been on for two years or more and 4 return from last year.

Originally from the U.K., Louise embraced the redesign of her garden as a chance to immerse herself in South African plant life. Completed in 2022, this garden is a testament to thoughtful planning and careful design. The front garden, hidden behind lush jasmine-clad walls, features waterwise indigenous grasses and succulents, creating a private and eco-friendly retreat. A spacious freshwater pool, framed by generous steps that span the width of the house, offers a refreshing escape. At the rear, a shaded courtyard provides a tranquil haven, perfect for relaxation or entertaining. Louise’s meticulous attention to detail and deep love for nature have culminated in a serene and inviting oasis.

ARTEMIS GARDEN

Artemis Garden will be open for viewing on the 16th and 17th November at the Franschhoek Open Gardens Show as a tribute to Andrea Desmond Smith who sadly passed away in February this year. Andrea’s artistic genius brought this indigenous splendour to life. An artists oasis, Artemis is nestled amongst beautiful breathtaking landscapes. Prepare for a sensory journey through a garden blending wild beauty with indigenous flora. Discover bursts of colour, reflective ponds, sculptures and surprises at every turn.
