Two talks by Leon Kluge

Join international landscape designer, botanist, and TV presenter Leon Kluge 11am on Saturday 8th November at beautiful La Motte wine farm for two exclusive talks as part of the Franschhoek Open Garden Show. 

Leon Kluge, a multiple Gold Medal winner at the Chelsea Flower Show, will share his experience from the 2025 event, where this year he took home another Gold Medal.  

His 2025 exhibit, titled "Iconic Landscapes," also earned him the prestigious Lawrence Medal, which is awarded to the best exhibition of all the RHS shows during the year. This was a first for South Africa. 

Alternatively you can join him in the afternoon at 2pm at La Motte where he will discuss the fascinating adaptations South African plants have developed to attract pollinators. Get ready for a captivating journey into the world of plants as he generously shares his vast expertise and passion for botany. Enjoy canapés and refreshments, courtesy of La Motte, at both events.

Leaf and Stone natural swimming expert in the garden at Mayflower Cottage

A natural pool is a pool that uses wetland plants to keep your swimming area clean, Algae free and mosquito free without the use of chlorine or salt. 

At 11am on Saturday 8th November Andrew Jamieson will be giving a talk to tell you all about the natural pool in the garden at Mayflower and to answer your questions. Andrew is South Africa's foremost expert in natural pool design, known for creating elegant, chemical-free swimming environments that blend seamlessly with high-end architecture and landscape design. He's the founder of Leaf and Stone Natural Pools and has over a decade of experience designing chemical-free pools that blend with high-end architecture.

NG Church Hall will be hosting an Indigenous Floral Display from November 7-9 Don’t miss this opportunity to discover the hidden gems of Franschhoek's mountain flora. Meet CREW volunteers, the passionate custodians of our rare and endangered wildflowers, and learn how you can get involved in their conservation efforts. Experts will share insights on the unique indigenous plants that call our valley home and the urgent need to protect them from poaching.
